The GV-NAS system features a built in LED screen and Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) to ensure data security across two hot-swappable drives. User accessibility is customizable and available across mobile as well as desktop devices. In addition to NAS solutions our security camera systems support any available Direct Attached Storage platform allowing for maximum versatility and video storage capacity, with some of our NVR devices capable of holding up to 2560 Terabytes of surveillance footage.

Storage requirements vary greatly across businesses, and improvements to storage technology in recent years has created a wide range of options for storing your video footage. Luckily for you, we have a team of IT experts to help design the optimal solution for you.
Our basic storage solution that comes standard with all systems typically holds recordings for a week or two, and for many businesses, that is good enough. However, where you save yourself in price, you put yourself at risk in three ways:
1. Not Enough Storage
When your security system runs out of storage, it overwrites the oldest recordings on the system. If you don't have enough storage, you'll find that your recordings are being overwritten before you can copy them to a more permanent storage solution.
The obvious solution to this is more, and bigger, hard drives! All video recorders have a maximum size and number of hard drives they are compatible with, but we also offer expansion servers to increase the capacity. We have provided storage solutions over 100TB.
2. No Data Redundancy
If you only have one hard drive, and it fails, you lose all of your recordings. If you have multiple hard drives, but no redundancy, and one of the hard drives fails, you lose all of the recordings on that one drive (but the other drives should be fine). Data recovery from failed hard drives is very expensive (starting at thousands of dollars), and some hard drives cannot be recovered.
Redundancy means that there is more than one copy of your recordings somewhere. There are many different options for redundancy, from RAID storage, to on-site backups, to Cloud backups. We will discuss your business's unique needs with you to design a solution that fits your budget and level of redundancy needed.
3. No Service Redundancy
No service redundancy means that if there is some interruption to the operation of your hardware, you no longer can view your cameras and recordings are no longer being made. This can be caused by temporary loss of power, hardware failure, physical damage to cables or hardware, or any number of other issues, and can also be accompanied by data loss.
There are many considerations for maximizing your system uptime. Power backups can continue to provide power to your system in the event of a loss of power at your facility. Redundant failover servers keep your system online and recording in the event of failure of your primary server. Hot-swappable drive bays allow you to replace failed hard drives without interrupting the operation of your system.

How long you should keep recordings depends on your industry, location, and any specific concerns you may have. With storage capacities of hundreds of terabytes or more, it is entirely possible to store footage for years, outlasting the statute of limitations on workers comp and other liabilities. Accident and Incident Review
Most incidents like car accidents or major injuries are detected immediately, giving you plenty of time to retrieve footage from your system before it is overwritten.
Management Review
It is a good idea to review your operation to ensure that best practices and safety protocol is being followed all of the time. However, it can be impractical to continuously review your operation. Scheduling a periodic review, such as a monthly review, to randomly review footage, is a good way to enforce standards.
Workers Compensation
If your business is in an industry where workers comp claims are common, or even if you aren't, you can be vulnerable to latent claims. Statue of limitations vary from state to state and range from 6 months to 3 years. That means that in some states, a worker could wait up to 3 years to report a claim of workplace injury. Theft and Other Crime
Sometimes crime can occur on your property and not be discovered for weeks or even months. For example, you may not realize you have been a victim of inventory shrinkage until the next time you perform a count, which often only occurs as infrequently as once a year. If a tool or piece of equipment is stolen that is not frequently used, it may take a while to realize it's gone. Other times, you may not be aware the incident occurred until the police show up to obtain evidence for investigation.
